Marketing Tricks the BIG Companies Use to Fool You” Series Use the Same Tricks to Build Your NLPCoaching Business V

These articles are written to be equally useful for the beginner of NLP and the NLP Trainer although some of the articles may be more advanced than others. If you find yourself reading an article that’s too advanced, give us a call or send us an email. We will be happy to clarify the issue for you.

Marketing Tricks: Article No.55

In a past article we talked a little about Complex Equivalence (CEq) as being one of the NLP definitions of certain type of language patterns. It is taught in out NLP Coaching Practitioner Training. Here we’ll take that a little further.

Pattern No.5 – INAPPROPRIATE COMPLEX EQUIVALENT – A = B where this is not necessarily so.

This implies a correspondence in some respects between things that are otherwise dissimilar. The more dissimilar and unrelated the CEq, the more faulty the analogy.

It is easier to be successful in life once you learn NLP and TLT than otherwise.
Here we are comparing apples and oranges. Success in life = learn NLP.

Case in point, obviously the percentage of people who took NLP is very small compared to the general population so we can’t actually make that remark and be 100% correct since we’re comparing a small percent of the population with all the rest.

However such an argument even if rather silly in some cases might be persuasive to many people.

Listen for it when you watch the evening news, or any talk show. Sometimes the relationship between the two things equated makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Nevertheless, it is used so often that once you get used to recognizing it you will be surprised.

Examples:

Only people who understand marketing and advertising, know how to sell and have a certain financial leeway will be successful in NLP.

WHAT????

Is one related to the other??? Well… not really! In fact there is more of an argument that the two are more dissimilar than similar.

But notice that at some level it seems to make sense. And here is the catch. Language patterns and therefore PR linguistic techniques don’t have to make sense. They don’t have to be logical, only plausible.

Yes folks, that’s what’s being played on us, every day, on all media types. Don’t take it personally – it’s just business!

If you want to know how to use this one, first listen attentively when you watch television. You have the smoothest examples of PR techniques especially when you see a press statement of some sort.

Then, you can do the following: Make a claim that learning NLP coaching is similar to going skiing. Present reasons to support your claim. After that in a separate paragraph show why your claim is faulty.

For those of you who are trained in Time Line Therapy® techniques, do the following: start with the idea that holding onto negative emotions from the past is similar to putting healthy people in an insane asylum. Present reasons to support your claim. In a separate paragraph show why your CEq is faulty.

Until next time, be well.
