Marketing Tricks: Article No.04

Three cheers for some of our graduates. You have joined a growing list of NLP Trainers whose websites reflect your knowledge of language patterns.

Good for you.

Today we researched a little some of the websites of our graduates who are visible on the internet. And we were very happy to notice the degree of elegance with which some of the information is presented (linguistically speaking – pun intended). In fact the pattern of the day was already present…

Pattern No.4 – GENERALIZATION – A1 is B, A2 is B, A3 is B, therefore all As are B

If you use words like all, none, never, always, etc., a listener can suspect that an error has been made. “It never existed” will automatically elicit a question – really…wow, never? And it only takes one single exception to challenge a generalization. If all is substituted by most, there will still be a burden of proving that more than 50% (IE 50%+1) of NLP is working. This is a very important technique in your NLP Coaching or Training. Be careful how you use it. It works really well if done correctly.

Here is an example of how to use this pattern.

The NLP “Reframing” technique was useful for Person X in increasing income, the NLP training was useful for person Z to rekindle his relationship, NLP learning state was useful for person Y to help their child in school (alleviate dyslexia), NLP coaching was instrumental for person A to get rid of phobias, NLP Time Line Therapy® section was useful for person B to get rid of anxiety, therefore NLP is useful for most everybody.

When using this technique, the tendency is to generalize that everything else you have to sell is good.

Be careful: sell good stuff and really assist people to improve themselves. Ultimately this is the best marketing and advertising policy.

You can do this yourself if you are interested in mastering this language pattern.

Use several generalizations in a negative descriptive paragraph of any use of rules you don’t like. Then use several generalizations in a positive descriptive paragraph of any use of rules you like.
