What NLP Can Do For You

Your life is a reflection of your mind.

Please read that again and contemplate; your life is a reflection of your mind.

This is a short post as evidence of what’s possible when you are in charge of your mind. If you had any doubts that mind really reigns over matter, and, your body, your achievements and ultimately your whole life, just read below.

Recently on LinkedIn one of our past graduates privileged us with a beautiful acknowledgement. I would like to acknowledge her back because we’re talking here about one of the women who could set an example not only for sports people in general but for all people around the world.

There is not much to say except that Shelley Taylor-Smith is a 7-time World Marathon Swimming Champion and according to Wikipedia

“Taylor-Smith’s first major achievement was breaking the world four-mile record in 1983. Subsequently, she won the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim five times, breaking the world record in 1995 for swimming the 48 km distance in five hours, 45 minutes and 25 seconds. She also won the Australian Marathon Swimming Championships three times, and seven consecutive FINA Marathon World Cups. She won a gold medal in the inaugural open water swimming event at the 1991 World Aquatics Championships in Perth, and a bronze at the 1994 Championships in Rome.

“In 1998, Taylor-Smith was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome after prolonged exposure to polluted water and Giardia lamblia infection, and was given six months to live. She nonetheless went on to win her fifth consecutive Manhattan Island marathon, and then retired from swimming.”

From the website Open Water Swimming we find that

“Triumphing over scoliosis, partial paralysis, benign breast tumour and chronic fatigue syndrome, Shelley is now the respected motivational expert on the power of the mind in achieving remarkable results in your life to become the Champion of your own world.”

 And that

“Now retired, she switched swimsuit for business suit and now shares her inspirational stories as a highly respected keynote speaker and trainer.
“In her business Champion Mindset™ Consulting, Shelley works with businesses and individuals to remove the blockages that stop people from achieving peak performance and ultimately success.
“Shelley holds Bachelors in Education in Physical Education, a qualified trainer in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and currently pursuing her doctorate in Psychology.

Let her success and achievements be an example for all those who think they cannot do anything in the face of adversities.

Here is what she said:

“Hi Tad and Adriana,
“I continue to thank you daily for coming into my life at a time,
here I lie still on the floor unable to move due to my back injury
My mind as powerful as always,.
Determined to get to NLP Practitioner course
I took the taxi from Manly to Sydney lying on the back seat
Then took the class on the floor (do you remember that?)

“But you both so encouragingly and supportively revealed throughout the course
That my back problems were way deeper,
Yes my UC fears and self-sabotage at work yet again,

“As they say the rest is history
And my life and my business has never been better!

“Thank you love Shelley xxx”

Lots of love to you Shelley and only the best.

Be well.

Reading this has made me feel so much more inspired and motivated to break free of the boundaries of the comfort zone I can sometimes get stuck in and know that I am absolutely capable of all that I dream of. So a very big, warm thank you Adriana and Shelley for being such strong, determined women!!! and such important role models to so many of us! 🙂

I broke my back in a motorcycle accident in 1994 – Medical Drs told me I might lose the use of my arms (Thoracic 10 / T-10) because I had a compression fracture from top to bottom that lost 40% of it’s height dimensions. I never went to the doctors at the time “they freaked out when I eventually went 5 weeks later.”

They told me I should have been in traction – oh well! They told me all the things I wouldn’t be able to do… can’t this and can’t that!!! Needless to say I never let them conduct surgery on me… and lucky I didn’t because years later and a heap of research, I found a lot of patients that had surgery NEVER got better!!

Well, I did!!! In 2007 at a Master Practitioner Certification Training with Drs Adriana & Tad James, I was the demo subject for an amazing technique (which people can find out for themselves!!) and after living with CHRONIC pain for 13 years – my pain left in a matter of… lets say, 20 – 25 minutes on stage in front of 60 students plus in the training room!

My response = Oh my God!!! It’s gone! Adriana & Tad smiled and the people in the room were wide eyed in jaw dropping amazement! I said to everyone in the room “it’s gone!” “what the ****.” At the lunch break everyone wanted to ask me questions but, I was still in a bit of shock, moving my back around and for the life of me I couldn’t find the pain.

I had my life back – no pun intended here!! With a little stretching exercises it was easily maintained and I was free!!! Shocked and surprised, I must admit when no one was around I shed a tear or ten!! And then begun to tell as many people as I could. My family was so pleased for me but, no nearly as excited as I was for myself.

To this day I still light up inside when I think about it and now wear a sheepish grin with what people’s unconscious minds can do, not to mention I dedicate the remainder of my life to assisting others to transform their lives! What a Job, what a life! JOY!!!

Thanks You Adriana & Tad for assisting me to take back my life and share these amazing techniques with all the people I can!

My greatest thanks & Respect, always!!!

What an inspirational story, thank you!!! Thanks to NLP Master Practitioner Training, I continue to grow personally to be a positive role model and also stand in my own power as a woman.

This story has created an empowering excitement inside me, and I am even more determined to listen to my unconscious mind and make the changes so that I achieve positive results, consistently.
